There are countless of nightclubs in and around Central London with music to suite every taste.
Certain districts in London tend to specialize to different types of music. The area around West End (Leicester Square, Mayfair, Piccadilly) tend to be more upmarket, and there are some very exclusive clubs. Drinks can be very expensive and many clubs operate a guestlist only policy. Music played here is often from the charts, hip hop and R&B. Notable clubs include Cafe De Paris, China White, Mahiki, Bungalow 8, Funky Buddha, Number One Leicester Square and Paper.
North London's Camden area has many established clubs and live music venues, which play indie, metal and rock music. The Electric Ballroom on Camden Street is a well known rock venue. Koko, Underworld and Club NME are among other notable clubs in this area of London.
The Hoxton and Shoreditch area has become extremely popular in the last ten years. The clubs in this area mainly plays drum and bass, house and trance music, and are often home to the world's top DJ's and attracts a lively crowd. Notable clubs include Fabric, Cargo in Hoxton, Favela Chic in Shoreditch, and 93 Feet East on Brick Lane.
