In London you can find almost anything, there is such an amount of goods available, it can be hard not to be overwhelmed. Certain areas are especially known for shopping. Knightsbridge is among the most well known shopping areas. Here you find well known fashion and designer stores as well as porcelain and antique stores. The world famous department store, Harrods, is located in the center of Knightsbridge. It is said that you can get anything from any where in the world at Harrods. Knightsbridge is definitely not the cheapest area to shop, neither is Bond Street, famous for its design stores and jewelers. There are two parts, Old Bond Street and New Bond Street, but despite its name, the new one actually dates back to the eighteenth century. Old Bond Street leads into Oxford Street at the northern end.
Oxford Street is one of the most famous shopping streets in the world, filled with a very high concentration of shops and department stores such as Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, and John Lewis. Around 200 million people visit Oxford Street each year. Regent Street is where some of the most luxurious stores in the whole of London are hidden. You will also find a number of high street stores within Regent Street.
Some areas in London are known for its concentration of specialist shops, like for instance Savile Row, known for its tailors and handmade shoes. Germain Street is especially known for men's shirts, there are many shops to choose from at different price levels. There is also Covent Garden which is more of a trendy shopping area within London and it actually dates back to Medieval times. It is now a major shopping area that boast great designer stores and little boutiques. You can not only shop in Covent Garden, there are also many cafés and restaurants, and quite often live entertainment in the streets.
